Muhammed Mohideen, a native and citizen of Sri Lanka, petitioned for asylum on the basis of his religion, Islam, and his nationality, which he describes as Sri Lankan Moor. His wife and children have derivative claims. Mohideen fears persecution by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam ("LTTE"), a militant group in Sri Lanka that seeks to establish a separate Tamil state.
