Plaintiff, an automotive repair shop, brought this action under ORS 30.701 against defendant, a customer, after she stopped payment on a check that she wrote to pay for work plaintiff had performed on her motor home. Defendant counterclaimed, alleging a violation of ORS 646.639, the Unfair Debt Collection Practices Act (UDCPA). The trial court ruled in favor of defendant on both the claim and counterclaim, awarding her $200 in damages on the counterclaim...
