At the heart of this case is a dispute about the validity of a judgment lien against a parcel of property. Plaintiffs are the owners of the property. Defendants have a judgment lien against it. Plaintiffs argue that, because their predecessor in interest purchased the property pursuant to a contract that had been recorded before the lien attached, the lien was extinguished by operation of law under ORS 93.645.
