In this case, we are asked to determine whether a $3.08 million punitive-damage award imposed by the trial court meets the due-process requirements of the United States Constitution. We are also asked, on cross-appeal, to reinstate the jury's original $5 million punitive-damage verdict. Based on our de novo review, we believe that the trial court properly applied the due-process considerations in awarding
