Felon Robert D. Garner was convicted of possessing a firearm in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 922(g)(1) and 924(a)(2). He appealed his conviction on the ground that the district court erroneously admitted as prior bad act evidence under Federal Rule of Evidence 404(b) a police officer's testimony that Garner had been found in possession of a handgun under similar circumstances...
