Roosevelt Burrell brought this § 1983 action against Dr. Marvin Powers, the medical director of Tamms Correctional Center ("Tamms") where Mr. Burrell is an inmate. Mr. Burrell alleged that Dr. Powers was deliberately indifferent to his medical needs and therefore violated the Eighth Amendment's prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment.
