This case is an offshoot of the prosecution of members of the notorious Boston Winter Hill Gang for various crimes including extortion and murder. One of the defendants in that prosecution, James "Whitey" Bulger, was later elevated to the Top Ten Most Wanted List; he remains, after nearly ten years, a fugitive.
