Luis Daniel Ayala-Pizarro was convicted, after a four-day jury trial, of possession with intent to distribute 153 decks of heroin and of knowingly possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1); 18 U.S.C. § 924(c)(1)(A)(i). He was acquitted of two additional gun charges involving possession of semiautomatic assault weapons. He was sentenced to twenty-four months' imprisonment on the first charge...
