OPINION

HERVEY, J., delivered the opinion for a unanimous Court.

Appellant and six other prison inmates (the "Texas Seven") escaped from prison in December 2000. These prison escapees murdered a police officer during a robbery at an Oshman's sporting goods store on Christmas Eve 2000. As a result of this incident, appellant was charged with capital murder. A jury convicted appellant of this offense, and the trial court sentenced appellant to death...
