The defendant, Lamarcus L. Johnson, was originally charged by bill of information with attempted second degree murder, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1 and 14:27. Prior to trial, the state amended the charges to possession of a firearm by a felon, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:95.1, and aggravated assault with a firearm, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:37.4. The defendant pled guilty to the aggravated assault charge in exchange for the state's agreement to dismiss...
