¶ 1. On June 4, 2003, Layefette Thomas filed a claim for unemployment benefits. The Mississippi Employment Security Commission ("MESC")1 denied his claim. Thomas appealed the denial of his claim for benefits, but the appeals referee affirmed the decision of the claims examiner.
