After her 1989 Ford Escort became inoperable when the engine seized, plaintiff Wendy Vasconcellos ("Vasconcellos") purchased a 1991 Ford Tempo on August 20 or 21, 2001. She attached the registration number plate issued for the Escort to the Tempo and drove it to her home. Vasconcellos did not transfer the registration from the Escort to the Tempo.
