In this case, the defendant, Melvin Morris, was convicted of one count of filing false public records, in violation of La.R.S. 14:133, one count of insurance fraud, in violation of La.R.S. 22:1243(A)(2), and one count of theft over $500, in violation of La.R.S. 14:67(B)(1).
