We granted certiorari to consider whether a trial judge lacks jurisdiction to accept a defendant's informed and voluntary guilty plea to a crime that is not responsive to the crime charged in the bill of information when the district attorney has not filed a written amendment to the bill and to consider whether the trial judge's acceptance of such a plea is therefore an error patent that requires reversal of the conviction on appeal.
