In December 2003, the State charged defendant, Michael L. Thompson, with aggravated battery (720 ILCS 5/12-4(b)(1) (West Supp.2003)) and unlawful use of weapons (720 ILCS 5/24-1(a)(2) (West 2002)). After a May 2004 trial, a jury found defendant guilty as charged. In June 2004, the trial court sentenced defendant to 42 months' imprisonment for aggravated battery to run consecutive with 300 days' imprisonment for unlawful...
