Following a bench trial, defendant James Williams was convicted of burglary (720 ILCS 5/19-1 (West 2002)) and was sentenced as a Class X offender pursuant to section 5-5-3(c)(8) of the Unified Code of Corrections (730 ILCS 5/5-5-3(c)(8) (West 2002)), to six years' imprisonment. Defendant now appeals and argues that section 5-5-3(c)(8) is ambiguous and violates his rights to equal protection and due process...
