The defendant, Henry Lee Leonard, was indicted by an East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury on August 27, 2003 for one count of second-degree murder, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1. Through counsel, the defendant waived formal arraignment and entered a plea of not guilty. Following a four-day jury trial, the defendant was found guilty as charged. The defendant was sentenced to life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension...
