On July 17, 2001, Peter Young was seriously injured in a vehicular accident in Beckville, Texas. Young was airlifted to the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He suffered a ruptured aorta, went into cardiac arrest, and was in a comatose state until his death 14 months later.
