On November 22, 2002, while employed as a painter by the Macon Water Authority, Stanley Sears fell 12 to 15 feet from a ladder and sustained several fractured bones and other injuries. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital and admitted. On November 26, two days after his release from the hospital, Sears suffered a heart attack.
