A grand jury indicted the eight above-named defendants and seven others in 1999 in a thirty-nine count indictment based on their respective roles in a drug conspiracy in the Englewood neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. The indictment charged the defendants with various drug offenses, including conspiracy to distribute narcotics, possession with intent to distribute narcotics, and use of a telephone to facilitate the conspiracy.
