The defendant, Edward Scott, was charged by bill of information on April 24, 1997, with possession of cocaine, a violation of LSA-R.S. 40:967(C). The defendant pled not guilty and obtained court appointed counsel. Following a jury trial on October 15 through 17, 1997, he was found guilty of the charged offense.
