The defendant, Audra Turner, was charged by bill of information with two counts of intentional exposure to AIDS virus in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:43.5. She initially pled not guilty. Subsequently, she withdrew her plea of not guilty and pled guilty as charged on both counts. Following a Boykin examination, the district court accepted the defendant's guilty plea and sentenced her to imprisonment at hard labor for five years on each count. The court ordered...
