PROCEDURAL HISTORY AND FACTS

¶ 1. On February 20, 2004, a jury in the Lincoln County Circuit Court found Johnny Crump guilty of six counts of embezzlement. Crump was sentenced to serve ten years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Crump then appealed this conviction on March 19, 2004, but, as he failed to pay the costs of the appeal, a notice of deficiency was issued on April 6, 2004. On May 13, 2004...
