Carmen Heredia ("Heredia") was convicted of knowingly possessing contraband with intent to distribute in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a) (2000), after the district court instructed the jury that the "knowingly" element is satisfied if she was deliberately ignorant of the truth.
