In the early morning of July 19, 2001, Jonathan L. Anderson and a female companion, Angela Engstrom, broke into the house of Raymond Ward, where Ward and his girlfriend, N.B., were spending the night. Once inside the house, Anderson pointed a handgun at Ward and N.B., forcing them into a bedroom.
