[¶ 1.] Joe Ross (Ross) was hired by Marjorie LaFave (LaFave), the owner and operator of the Hertz Motel located in Bonesteel, South Dakota, to remove and reinstall the motel's neon lighting. Four days after Ross reinstalled the neon lighting, the motel was damaged by fire. LaFave filed suit against Ross alleging negligence and the trial court granted LaFave's motion for summary judgment.
