Frederick Donald Payne, Jr. appeals his convictions of aggravated battery and simple battery. Payne contends the trial court erred in denying his motion for new trial on the ground of ineffective assistance of counsel and challenges the sufficiency of the evidence with respect to the aggravated battery charge.
