After certain members of the University of Wisconsin-Madison varsity band misbehaved during the band's return from an officially sanctioned trip in March 2004, the band director imposed a collective fine of $1,200 on all of the band members on the trip and ordered each member's student records to be placed on administrative hold until his share of the fine was paid.
