¶ 1. Curtis David Hawthorne was convicted by a Lee County Circuit Court jury of manslaughter after he caused a motor vehicle wreck in Tupelo which killed Jeffrey McGrew. Hawthorne claimed that he was insane at the time of the wreck. The jury rejected this defense and found Hawthorne guilty, and he was sentenced to fifteen years in prison with seven years suspended.
