This action arises from a real estate transaction that failed. The plaintiff, National Starch and Chemical Company, (seller), owned commercial property in Canton that it wished to sell. The defendant, Renee Greenberg (buyer), proposed to buy the property. After a jury-waived trial, a Superior Court judge ordered that the broker return the buyer's deposit and awarded prejudgment interest on the deposit.
