LAVERY, C.J.

The petitioner, Robert Torres, appeals from the habeas court's dismissal of his petition for a writ of habeas corpus. On appeal, the petitioner claims that the court improperly (1) concluded that he was provided with effective assistance of counsel and (2) required him to present expert testimony to demonstrate that his trial counsel's performance was deficient. We affirm the judgment of the habeas court.
