This class action was brought against the District of Columbia by former officers of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), all of whom retired on account of disability prior to February 15, 1980, but none of whom completed twenty years of active service. The retirees allege that they are entitled to a 5% "base retention differential" (BRD) pursuant to the "equalization" provision of the District of Columbia Police and Firefighters Retirement...
