The Drug Offender Sentencing Alternative (DOSA) statute1 provides a relatively straightforward basis for qualified offenders to reduce by one-half the time they serve in prison. If offenders fail the DOSA program, they lose that benefit and must serve the full sentence imposed by the trial court.
