Robin Bean, who is black, was employed as a customer-service representative by the defendant phone company and sues under Title VII, complaining that she was suspended, and later terminated, because of her race. The district court granted summary judgment in favor of the company both on Bean's claim and on the company's counterclaim, which was for breach of contract under Wisconsin law.
