Following a jury trial, defendant was convicted of the crime of promoting prison contraband in the first degree and sentenced as a second felony offender to a prison term of 2½ to 5 years. The conviction arose out of defendant's actions on August 30, 2001 while confined at the Southport Correctional Facility in Chemung County.
