In 1998, claimant was appointed Acting Commissioner of Drug and Alcohol Addiction for Nassau County (hereinafter the employer). In 2000, the County Legislature confirmed her appointment as Commissioner. After claimant stopped working in that capacity in December 2001, she applied for unemployment insurance benefits.
