Gary George (George) and Geneva Covington (Covington) were involved in an automobile accident in March 1999. At trial, George sought to introduce evidence that the hospital that treated Covington accepted as full payment an amount less than that billed to Covington. The trial judge excluded the testimony pursuant to Rule 403, SCRE, finding the information would confuse the jury. George appealed and the case was transferred from the Court of Appeals...
