The Jackson Public School District (JPS) appeals from an adverse judgment of the Circuit Court of Hinds County in a negligence action where the judge awarded $850,000 in damages to Tasha Smith for the benefit of Smith's minor son, JaQuan Cox, who was struck by a JPS school bus.
