On May 15, 2003, Mickey McAdory was convicted of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), a violation of § 13A-12-212(a)(1), Ala.Code 1975. On August 15, 2003, the trial court sentenced him, as a habitual offender, to 15 years in prison, but the trial court, noting McAdory's good behavior following his conviction, suspended the sentence and placed him on supervised probation for 5 years. See § 13A-5-9(c)(1), Ala.Code 1975.
