The petitioner, Zephyriuns Egbuonu, appeals the denial of his petition for a writ of habeas corpus. In March 2003, the petitioner was arrested in California and charged with first-degree identity theft of the identity of an Alabama resident. § 13A-8-192, Ala.Code 1975. The charges stemmed from items sent to a post office box in California addressed to "James Roberson"1 — a captain in the Jefferson County Sheriff...
