In exchange for the state's agreement not to charge him as a second habitual felony offender, defendant, Reginald Davis, pled guilty as charged to one count of second degree cruelty to a juvenile, a violation of La. R.S. 14:93.2.3 punishable by imprisonment at hard labor for not more than 40 years. The court imposed a sentence of 30 years at hard labor and denied a timely motion for reconsideration.
