The plaintiff, who is proceeding anonymously under the name Jane Roe, II, suffered complications during the course of an abortion in March of 1997. Thereafter, she brought suit against the clinic, Aware Woman Center for Choice, Inc., the owners of the clinic, Patricia and Edward Windle, and the physician who attempted to perform the abortion, William Egherman.
