Plaintiff Roger Collier, an African-American firefighter for the Opelika Fire Department, filed this lawsuit against the defendant City of Opelika, Alabama under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended (42 U.S.C.A. §§ 1981(a), 2000e through 2000e-17). Collier asserts a twofold claim: that the city subjected him to a hostile work environment (1) because he is black and (2) so as to retaliate...
