Ronald E. Burkett ("the father") and Angela B. Gresham ("the mother") were divorced in 1996. The mother and the father were awarded joint custody of the parties' two children. Pursuant to the terms of the divorce judgment, the parties' children lived with the mother from January to June each year, and they lived with the father from July to December each year.
