Following a bench trial, defendant was convicted of causing a serious impairment of a body function while resisting an arrest, MCL 750.81d(3), and was sentenced as a fourth-offense habitual offender, MCL 769.12, to twenty to forty years of imprisonment. His primary argument on appeal is that the injuries suffered by the police officer were not serious enough to support a conviction under that statute.
