Charlene Morton was convicted by a jury of voluntary manslaughter. Morton was originally indicted for murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault in connection with the shooting death of Charles Lowe. She confessed to the shooting, but claimed that she had acted in self-defense. After the jury found Morton guilty of voluntary manslaughter on the malice murder count, the trial judge sentenced her to 20 years...
