On May 26, 1995, Petitioner-Appellant, Kumal Burton, was convicted of first-degree murder in violation of Mich. Comp. Laws § 750.316 and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in violation of Mich. Comp. Laws § 750.227b. On June 28, 1995, Burton was sentenced to life imprisonment for his first-degree murder conviction and two years' imprisonment for the firearm charge. Burton now appeals the district...
