Appellant Allen Albert Barnes appeals from a district court judgment finding him to be a sexually violent predator subject to civil commitment under Iowa Code chapter 229A (2003). His primary claim on appeal is that civil commitment violates his due process rights under both the federal and state constitutions because he has not been diagnosed with a mental abnormality that is in general directly related to sexual offending.
