{1} The issues in this case arise from Mother's attempt to receive retroactive child support payments under the Uniform Parentage Act [UPA], NMSA 1978, §§ 40-11-1 to -23 (1986, as amended through 2001). The parties' child was born in December 1986, shortly after their pro se divorce.
