GRIESBACH, District Judge.

This case, which was removed to this court from state court, arises under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, (ERISA), 29 U.S.C. § 1001, et seq. The plaintiffs are beneficiaries of Patrick J. Van Den Eng, now deceased, under a group universal life insurance plan (GUL) established by Fort James Corporation pursuant to a group insurance contract issued by Cigna Life Insurance Co.
